Wealthy Heir and Criminal Robert Durst, Made Famous by Documentary “The Jinx” Dies Aged 78

Robert Durst is dead. The rich and sulphurous American heir, made famous by the documentary of the HBO channel “The Jinx” and sentenced in October 2021 to life imprisonment for murder, died Monday morning in Stockton prison (California) at the age of 78, several American media announced. His lawyer confirmed his death, citing cardiac arrest.

Businessman and criminal, this American born in 1943 was a wealthy heir, the son of real estate mogul Seymour Durst. His name has become known over the course of court cases: suspected of two murders, he was acquitted for the first time, before being sentenced to life imprisonment in October 2021. The 78-year-old multimillionaire was convicted in September of killing her friend Susan Berman with a bullet to the head at her 2000 Beverly Hills home in order to prevent her from speaking to police about the disappearance of his wife, Kathleen, two decades earlier than he is suspected of having also killed.
